WICKENBURG, AZ -
This weekend the Webb Center will present Celtic Legends on Saturday and Sunday. The Irish step dancers will perform electric moves amidst exhilarating folk music and ethereal songs with a live onstage band.
“This show is different from other touring professional shows we have presented on stage,” stated Cathy Weiss, Executive Director of the Webb Center. “Most of our artists arrive the day of their show, but the dancers and choreographers with Celtic Legends have been rehearsing in Wickenburg for weeks.”
The producer of Celtic Legends, Michael Londra, contacted the Webb Center Box Office several weeks ago and was looking for a safe community where his team of dancers could concentrate on their dancing and hone their craft. First looking at the usual places, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles; Londra realized that the North American tour of Celtic Legends was scheduled to begin in Wickenburg. After researching Wickenburg closely on the internet, he realized that it was the perfect place for his artists to live and work for several weeks.
The entire company flew in direct from Ireland and the artists are enjoying an extended stay at a Wickenburg guest ranch and using a local dance studio to rehearse six hours a day. “This is a perfect place for us to work and live,” claimed Londra, “We feel very fortunate to have found Wickenburg.”
During their visit the company appeared in the Gold Rush Days Parade on the Rancho de los Caballeros float and danced along the parade route for the pleasure of the large crowds. They participated in Gold Rush activities including the rodeo and gold panning.
