WICKENBURG, AZ -
The Flying E Dude and Cattle Ranch will host Northwest Dance Project from Portland, OR., on Nov 8-21 as part of the artist residency project funded by the Wellik Foundation.
The purpose of the two-week residency is to provide an artistic company with the opportunity to create a new piece of work in a tranquil environment, free from the struggles of everyday life. The Flying E Ranch provides that atmosphere while the staff provides the simplicity of western hospitality.
Northwest Dance Project was selected for the residency because of their creative work with choreographers from all over the world. Sarah Slipper, artistic director of the company, has brought this new young company to the forefront of the dance world in five short years. The Portland Tribune said the company "took the stage by storm" and that the company was "virtually flawless."
Free open rehearsals will be held each Wednesday and Friday (Nov 11, 13, 18 & 20) afternoon from 2PM–5PM at the Benner-Nawman Warehouse Studio. Call the Webb Center Box Office for directions and reservations.
Major funding for the Flying E Ranch Residency Project is provided by The Wellik Foundation with additional funding from The Arizona Community Foundation, the Art of Grace Fund, Terrence J. Smith and Marjorie K. Smith Family Fund and the Dolores Miller Charitable Endowment.
The public performance by Northwest Dance Project, including the world premiere of their new piece, will be held at the Webb Center Nov 21, 7:30pm; adults $28, children under 18 $5. Contact the Box Office at 928-684-6624 or www.delewebbcenter.org to reserve your seats today.
