Clear, pure - Chanticleer

Release Date: Nov 02, 2009   Author: Cathy Weiss

WICKENBURG, AZ -

Chanticleer is a 12-man singing group based in San Francisco and is known around the world as “an orchestra of voices” for their seamless blend - ranging from countertenor to bass and for their original interpretations of vocal literature, from Gregorian chants and Renaissance, to gospel and venturesome new music. The Webb Center will welcome this ensemble, Tuesday, Nov 10 at 7:30 PM.

Where most choirs work long and hard on their blend, the Chanticleer singers begin with utterly matched voices and impeccable intonations. Named for the "clear-singing" rooster in Geoffrey Chaucers Canterbury Tales, Chanticleer was founded in 1978 by tenor Louis A. Botto, who sang with the group until 1989 and served as Artistic Director until his death in 1997.

“If you enjoy choir music, this is a once in a lifetime event,” claimed Cathy Weiss, Executive Director of the Webb Center. “It is so significant that 89.5 KBAQ Phoenix will be recording the concert live for future programming.”

The GRAMMY award winning ensembles program for the evening is entitled “In Time Of…” a musical journey through time – from something old, to something newer, to something brand new.

Chanticleer will arrive in Wickenburg on Monday, Nov 9 to participate in an adult outreach event for Webb Center patrons entitled “Conversation with an Artist.” Designed to give the public a deeper understanding of an art form, the evening begins with a cocktail reception at the Los Caballeros Golf Club at 6:00 PM followed by an interactive conversation with the members of Chanticleer moderated by Cathy Weiss. It is a remarkable opportunity to meet each member of the worlds reigning male chorus.

Tickets to the concert on Nov 10 are $40 for adults and $5 for children under 18. Tickets to the ”Conversation with an Artist” on Nov 9 are $25 and include the reception and interaction. All Tickets may be reserved through the Webb Center Box Office at 928-684-6624 or on-line at www.delewebbcenter.org.
